Live Fully Today

It is good to have plans so we can make the most of our days, but we really only have today. Right now. Psalm 118:24 says, “THIS is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Hebrews 3:15 says, “TODAY if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” II Corinthians 6:2 says, “Indeed, the ‘right time’ is now. TODAY is the day of salvation.” In the Lord’s prayer we are told to pray, “Give us this day our DAILY bread.” (Matthew 6:11)

James 4:13-15 (TPT) tells us, “Listen, those of you who are boasting, ‘Today or tomorrow we’ll go to another city and spend some time and go into business and make heaps of profit.’ But you don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring. For your fleeting life is but a warm breath of air that is visible in the cold only for a moment and then vanishes! Instead you should say, ‘Our tomorrows are in the Lord’s hands and if He is willing, we will live life to the fullest and do this or that.’”

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6 not to worry about what we will eat or drink or what clothing we will put on because doesn’t He care for the birds and flowers of the field? In verse 34 (MSG) He says, “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”

It is good to think about the future and have dreams, but we need to be careful not to spend so much time focusing on the future that we miss the here and now. We have to be flexible and realize things can change in a heartbeat – literally.

What are things we can do today? Spend time with Jesus and reflect Him to those around us. Reach out to someone with a phone call, a text, or a hand-written card (Remember those?) Laugh! Forgive someone. Sit outside and enjoy nature. Take a short road trip. Give to someone who needs it and wouldn’t expect it. Sing at the top of your lungs (maybe in your car!). Dance with someone you love.

Remember – today is all you have. This very moment is all we have. Don’t assume things can’t or won’t change. We don’t live in fear of the future but don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Live a life of no regrets.

My passion is teaching the Word of God. I had a supernatural encounter with God through reading the Word so I know firsthand the power it has to revolutionize a person’s life. I desire to see women come to understand who they are in Christ and experience freedom in every area of their lives. Besides teaching the Word, I love spending time with my family.
