Have you ever felt as if you are in the longest winter season of your life? I’m not talking about the actual season of Winter, but a spiritual season of Winter. Well, it has for me, I feel as if this has been an extremely long winter season, and I could definitely use some springtime in my life about right now!
Are you going through a winter season in your marriage, your job, your health, your finances, your emotions, or with your children, God wants to give you hope that a better season is ahead of you. Although you may find yourself doubting that you’ll ever see springtime again. And maybe it’s even hard to picture what an abundant life could look like.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Isaiah 43:18 NIV
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV
Even as children of God, each of us will face a winter season at some point or another. This could be a divorce, an illness, loss of a loved one, financial struggles, or whatever it may be. When situations that are difficult bring winter into our lives, it is so easy to feel stressed out, beat down, overwhelmed, and depressed. But you see, our God is bigger than all that, “He who sits on the throne, Behold, I am making all things new.” That’s not just good news but great news. And it’s a promise from God, if we are one of his children, that promise is for you and me, Hallelujah!!
God is faithful in every season. He will never leave you nor forsake you, no matter how hard or difficult the circumstances may be He is there with us, we just have to call upon his name.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”Jeremiah 17:7-8 ESV
Isn’t that an encouraging picture of the kind of life we can have when our roots reach down deep in the love of God? Amen.
Look up and around you: the cold dreary days of Winter have gone! And Spring is about us with new life, new growth, new purposes.
My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away. Song of Solomon 2:10-13 ESV
The longer and the more difficult the Winter season is, the deeper your roots grow in Christ and the greater your coming harvest to be. So no matter what it looks like or feels like, keep on loving, praying, praising, and believing, that God has your breakthrough, do not give up!
Springtime is just around the corner- new peace, new joy, new beginnings, and a new sense of contentment in your life and in God. Continue to trust in God and cry out to Him and believe that His promises are to work all things for your good (Rom 8:28) and His answers are yes and Amen!
Remember, you are not alone in this walk of faith! When it seems as though you can not go on, “Wait till Spring comes” it’s surely not far!
