Need Spiritual Tuning?

In music, tuning an instrument means getting it ready so that when it is played it will sound at the correct pitch: not too high or too low. When two or more instruments play together it is particularly important that they are in tune with one another. This applies to the body of Christ as well.

No matter what instrument a musician plays they have to be fine tuned, listening close to make sure their instrument is at its best.  Your horn instruments may need a new reed because they will break after time, it will need to be cleaned and maybe even oiled, any of your string instruments may loose or break a string, once it is replaced it will have to be tuned again.  All instruments will need adjustments periodically. It is incredible how beautiful an instrument can sound when tuned the correct way.

A conductor of a symphony will listen and have each instrument play a select piece just for that instrument.  Picture the body of Christ as the symphony and God the conductor.  We each play a crucial part in the symphony (the body of Christ). We need to be the instruments of God, we will have to listen and allow God to tune our ears and hearts to hear, so we can be the absolute best!! We spiritually get tuned by meditating on God’s word, praying regularly, serving the body inside and outside of the church.

FineTune meaning

  • make adjustments to (something) in order to achieve the best or a desired performance. “the advanced angler seeking to fine-tune his angling skills”
  • to make changes to something in order to make it work as well as possible?

We have to tune ourselves regularly as we face trials and tribulations to throw us off key or kick us out of tune.  This will be a daily battle and why God tells us to equip ourselves with the armor of God daily.  Ephesians 6:10-18

Just the other day, I lost something. God told me he had it covered and that I should wait to replace it (in my gut I knew he did ); unfortunately, I allowed fear to get the better of me, or if I’m being honest I flat out didn’t want to let go of this thing that has a stronghold on me. I knew it was God  telling me to wait, and like we often do I didn’t listen.  This is just one example of countless ways we get out of tune.  He still loves me and worked it all out for my good — yes it did cost me something , I lost $45 and 6 hours of time I will never get back, all for disobedience (lesson learned).  God loved me so much that he showed me how I was out of tune and also showed me exactly what I needed to do to get back in tune. First of all I needed to repent.    I love this about our Father, if we allow him he always shows us how to get back in tune. Sometimes it is not easy but it has to be done for God to get the best out of us.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Psalm 119:105  Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Trust in the Lord with all of our heart and lean not to our own understanding . In all our ways acknowledge him an he will direct our paths.

Ephesians 1:11. You are the master strategist. Give me a greater vision of your purpose for my life. Awaken my heart and establish your reign in my life. Out of Your glorious riches strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being and give me a spirit of wisdom and revelation that I may know you better.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.

Proverbs 29:18  NLT When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.

Let the Master have his way with you so that the music you put forth will be a sweet melody for all to enjoy.
