There are many things in life that we can’t avoid, sleeping, eating, water, taxes, death, and the list goes on and on. Another thing that not one person can avoid is that we all will stand before God someday and give an account for our lives here on Earth.
The most important thought that should occupy our minds is that of our individual responsibility to God.
It is easy to become preoccupied with everyday living. We spend our time sleeping, eating, preparing meals, doing housework, traveling and working, visiting friends and family, and seeking entertainment. But what is of utmost importance? I believe the utmost important time will be when you are standing before God, and you are having to give an account for your life spent on Earth. For some, that could be a very sobering thought when you think about your life and how you’ve been living. For most, me included, it would wake us up to our calling God has placed on our lives.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, Solomon said these solemn words: “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is fear God and keep His commandments, this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil”.
We consider many things in life to be significant, but is there anything more vital than when we stand before God? I would dare to say not!
Apostle Paul said that God “will render to each person according to his deeds” (Romans 2:6). Yes, the whole world will be involved in the judgment, but “each person” is responsible before God. The apostle went on to say that “every mouth may be closed, and all the world may become accountable to God” (3:19).
Every mouth! “every soul of man who does evil” and “everyone who does good” will be involved (2:9-10). There will be no exceptions, for every responsible person will stand before Him and be judged.
Thank God for Jesus! Literally, Thank God! Jesus Christ is the only way to stand before God on judgment day and have the assurance you’re going to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have to be saved to hear those words; the unbelieving will never hear those words. The Bible says that Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins and purchase the righteousness of God for you.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you will not have to fear your judgment day.
Yes, judgment day is coming to us all, and with Jesus as your Savior, what a glorious day that will be!
Romans 6:23, “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.
