Jesus IS the Reason for the Season!

The Holiday season is in full force! We, as women, try to take control and handle ALL of the Holiday planning, shopping, wrapping, cooking, baking, and everything else! ALL of these things bring with them stress, disappointment, and overindulgence if we lose sight of what is really important.
We have all heard the saying, “Jesus is the reason for the season” but how many of us really believe this and live this…Think about it…Jesus IS the reason for the season!!! Without Jesus there would be no reason to celebrate!
While we are trying to say “yes” to every request and push our bodies beyond what they are capable of; God is telling us to have compassion upon ourselves. HE is the only ONE who can meet all of the needs and requests the world throws at us.
Jesus wants us to dwell in HIM, to spend time with HIM, and put all of your confidence in HIM!
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat come; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
Philippians 4:8 NIV
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.
When you feel like life has taken over and you cannot go on anymore…

Jesus said, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Do not try to do everything yourself during this busy Holiday season. Remember that Jesus IS the reason for the season and HE wants YOU to take care of yourself!
When you find yourself being “Martha” and not “Mary” remember what Jesus says…
Luke 10:31-31 NIV
“Martha, Martha” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her”.
Remember to take time to sit at Jesus’ feet and soak in HIS presence!  Let HIS Word speak to YOU! Do not feel guilty or anxious or afraid of what others may think! Trust God and HE will take care of everything else!
