Fishers Of Men

We are called to be fishers of men.

There are so many hurting, unsaved people in the world that need Jesus. We are called to be fishers of men not only to avoid others spending eternity in hell but also so that they have peace and a life worth living. We have been called to introduce them to Jesus not just so he can save them from going to hell, but so they can enter the gates of Heaven!

Several years ago, I was at the Lake spending time in prayer asking God’s voice for direction on what he wanted me to do for him! “Fishers of men” kept coming to my spirit. I had been praying in the spirit for an extended amount of time, then all of a sudden my eyes were set on a few boats, each boat had 2-3 men fishing off of them. As I was watching them cast their lines out in hopes to catch a fish, I heard the Lord say, “each man you see has a different technique on how to catch fish”.

“each man you see has a different technique on how to catch fish”

. After this revelation, God began to download so much more. He said, “the body of Christ should be lures for Jesus”. He made us all different. Just like a fisherman uses different lures to catch a certain type of fish, we will all attract who God wants us to share the Gospel with or maybe just plant some seed for them to one day have an experience with Jesus.

Every lure attracts different fish. God designed each of us to fish for men. If we allow God to be our fishing pole, let HIM lead the cast when we release our fishing line, and ask the Holy Spirit where, how, when, and what lure to use, we will be right where God wants us to reach exactly who he wants us to reach. We just need to be positioned to allow the Holy Spirit to lead.

A fisherman sometimes casts his line and catches a fish immediately. Sometimes you don’t even have to put your lure in the water – I have seen a fish jump out of the water and take the bait before the line even made it into the water. Other times you might have to play with your line a little bit longer – tugging, and wiggling your lure so the fish will be attracted to the lure before it will bite. And other times you have to cast by pulling your line in and out –  they call this fly fishing, by the way. This in and out motion is so the fish will see and hear the lure before they take the bait. And then for other fish, you will have to go to the bottom of the lake using weights, then you have to be still, quiet, and maybe even have to wait a little longer before the fish will trust before they take the bait.

We also need to remember that real fishermen will not give up on the catch until it is hooked and placed in the net. To keep fishing is not always easy. God will give you the strength, grace, and peace when it may be time for another fisherman to have an opportunity to catch the ones that are being
stubborn.. we just do all we can.

When God was showing this to me I was like WOW! This is exactly what God has called each of us to do with the lost people of the world. We need to start being led on how to cast our spiritual line and which lures God is asking us to use so we can catch all the lost people that don’t know Him so they can also be fishers of men. This is our primary purpose.

I pray God gives us all boldness & compassion for the lost, we need His wisdom to catch them.

Matthew 4:18-20-Amp
18 As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “[a]Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk], and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him [becoming His disciples,
believing and trusting in Him and following His example].

Matthew 28:18-20-Amp
18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

Winning souls is the Great Commission. It is Jesus’ command to all His followers/ disciples to spread His teachings to all the nations of the world. It is a personal instruction from Jesus and a special calling to His disciples. Jesus calls every Christian to step out in faith and spread the Good News. The Gospel brings good tidings to everyone who will hear it. It offers eternal life to everyone who believes.

Knowing God’s love for us, we know how to love others and that motivates us to share the love of God with them so that they can experience God’s fullness. Once we see how precious all people are to God, we will do all we can to win them to Christ.

John 14:6 -AMP
6 Jesus said to him, “[a]I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

So next time you go fishing for men ask God what lure he wants you to use, let Him be your fishing pole He will guide you on where to cast your lure to catch the lost.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.
