There have been two times in my life where I was asked; “if money was not an object what would you do?” I was thinking about that not too long ago, what would I do if money wasn’t an object, and as I was sitting there daydreaming of all the things I could and would do, God spoke to my heart; “Tammie, what could and would you do if you believed all My promises? What could and would you do if you believed my promises were for you? How do you think it would affect the people around you?”
Mark 9:23 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
I started thinking about that. I want to be honest in saying my first self-righteous thought was, God of course I believe all the promises! I believe every word in the Bible! I believe You divided the Red Sea, I believe You sent the great flood that only Noah, his family and two of every beast survived, I believe You spoke and the world was formed, I believe Jesus came and died on the cross for our sins, and You raised Him from the grave. I believe in salvation; I believe the only way to Heaven is through Jesus. I believe!
My heart really does believe those things, and I’m sure none of you would do this, but then I got a little cocky with God. I said to God, “hello, don’t You remember after I had a series of strokes I had it on my heart to go to Bible school and even though my doctor warned me against it, he thought it would be too hard on my mental state, but I made a decision to stand on your promises? Father, remember when I was told Jerry, my husband was terminally ill due to cancer, and I stood on your promises. God, You have shown Yourself to me so many times in my life, how could I not believe?
Oh, if only it were that easy. If we could just keep moving forward in our faith?
Oh, if only it were that easy. If we could just keep moving forward in our faith?
But… some days it’s easier to stand on God’s promises than other days. God can do something miraculously in your life one week, then the next week, you’re worried about something else.
We have to make a decision, are we ready to get off the merry-go-round of life, are we ready to be influenced by the promises of God more than what we see and hear in this world?
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
We have to make a decision, are we ready to get off the merry-go-round of life, are we ready to be influenced by the promises of God more than what we see and hear in this world?
We have to learn to capture our thoughts that do not line up with God. It’s something we’ll be working on for the rest of our lives, but what a rewarding investment into yourself that will change the way you live here on earth.
We are going to have some tough times in this world, choose to stand and believe the promises of God! Your life will be blessed for your faith!
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” Luke 1:45
Just think what we could accomplish in this world for the glory of God if we completely always BELIEVE!
